Choices, Choices, Choices...

G'day again blog readers!

Well, I've been reading into iMovie recently to see exactly what I was working with. Some people could be familiar with the fact that the new computer I bought was bundled with iLife '08, with iMovie '08 rather than the iMovie HD 6 I used to use. I found it a drastic downgrade in editing options, along with a new unusual interface. I also looked into the HD input/output, and found that there is no export option to Quicktime in True HD. If you attempt to do so, the video will be an upscale rather than the True HD the old iMovie HD 6 allowed. However, to my great fortune I found that iMovie 6 HD was released for free download for all users with iLife '08 installed, so now I have both. One for quick editing and the other for exporting in HD.

Also, for those familiar with Apple's updates, iLife '09 was recently released and packs a whole lot of new features along with those not previously available in iMovie '06. These include slow-mo, animated travel maps, new transitions/titles, and image stabilization. Of course, I'm not yet sure if iMovie '09 can export in True HD, but I certainly hope it can do so.

Thanks for listening,
Eric, REX Techinical Producer
